What are official weights and heights ?

    • A football of official size and weight meets the standards set by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).

    Its characteristics are defined by Law 2 of the International Football Association Board. They were laid down in 1837. The ball must be spherical, made of leather or another suitable material, have a circumference of no more than 70 cm and no less than 68 cm (i.e. a diameter of 22 cm), a mass of no more than 450 g and no less than 400 g at the start of the match and a relative pressure of between 0.6 (for futsal balls) and 1.1 atmospheres (600 - 1100 g/cm²).

    • A rugby ball of official weight and size meets the standards set by the IRB. Its characteristics are as follows :
    • Dimensions
    • Length of major axis: 280 to 300 mm
    • Circumference (end to end): 740 to 770 mm
    • Small perimeter: 580 to 620 mm
    • Mass: 410 to 460 grams.
    • Pressure: 65.71 to 68.75 kilopascals.
